Alarmingly, some patients experience persistent symptoms for 5-6 weeks, leading them to believe it may be pneumonia.
Health authorities at Nilofar Children’s Hospital are cautioning against self-medication and the indiscriminate use of traditional antibiotics. Dr. Usharani, the Superintendent of Nilofar, stresses the importance of adopting preventive measures, particularly during the winter months.
According to Dr. Usharani, one of the most effective ways to shield children from seasonal diseases is through “kangaroo care.” This involves mothers placing their babies on their chests, allowing the infant to benefit from the warmth of the mother’s body. This natural form of care has been proven to offer protection against various seasonal ailments.
Emphasizing the significance of mother care, Dr. Usharani encourages parents to keep their children close as much as possible. This not only provides physical warmth but also strengthens the child’s immune system, reducing the risk of falling prey to winter-related illnesses.
