A Romantic Trip Turns Tragic
In the beautiful hills of Shillong, Meghalaya, a newly married couple from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, went for their honeymoon. Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam, arrived on May 21, 2025, excited to enjoy the stunning views and peaceful vibes of the area. But what started as a dream vacation turned into a shocking crime that has left everyone stunned.
Just two days later, on May 23, the couple disappeared. The local police started searching, thinking they might have gotten lost or had an accident. On June 2, they found Raja’s body near a waterfall. He had been brutally attacked with a machete. What they discovered next was even more shocking—Sonam, his wife, was behind the murder.
A Secret Plan
The Meghalaya police, led by officer Davis Marak, found out that Sonam had planned to kill her husband. She was having a secret affair with a man named Raj Kushwaha from Madhya Pradesh. Together, they hired three men to murder Raja. On the day of the crime, Sonam tricked Raja into going to a quiet spot, pretending they were sightseeing. There, the hired killers attacked and killed him with a machete.
How the Police Solved the Case
The police worked hard to figure out what happened. They found important clues, like security camera footage showing the killers near the crime scene. They also found a blood-stained raincoat that belonged to Sonam, proving she was involved. Messages between Sonam and Raj showed they had been planning the murder for weeks.
On June 9, Sonam turned herself in to the police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. The three men she hired and Raj Kushwaha were also arrested. They are now being taken to Meghalaya for more questioning and a trial.
A Shocked Community
Shillong is a peaceful place where tourists come to relax, so this crime has left locals in disbelief. “This is a place for love and calm,” said a shopkeeper near the waterfall. “We can’t believe something so awful happened here.” People across India are talking about the case, especially on X, where many are angry about Sonam’s betrayal and sad for Raja’s family. Searching for Justice
The police are still investigating to see if there were other reasons for the murder, like money or property issues. They’re also checking the murder weapon and other evidence to make sure the case is strong. Raja’s family is heartbroken, not just by his death but by the fact that his own wife planned it. Friends say Raja was a kind and hopeful person who was excited about his new life with Sonam.
A Sad Lesson
